Stockton Mortgage<\/strong> recently announced that it has appointed Christy Soukhamneut<\/a> as its new chief strategy and innovation officer.<\/p>\n

Soukhamneut brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience across independent mortgage banks, banks and credit unions \u2014 including prior roles with University Federal Credit Union<\/strong>, \u0422\u0435\u0445\u0430\u0441 \u041a\u044d\u043f\u0438\u0442\u0430\u043b \u0411\u0430\u043d\u043a<\/a><\/strong> \u0438 \u0424\u043b\u0430\u0433\u0441\u0442\u0430\u0440 \u0411\u0430\u043d\u043a<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

She continues to serve as principal and senior advisor with STRATMOR Group<\/a><\/strong>, where she advises mortgage and technology companies on strategic growth, operational transformation and innovation. Soukhamneut also serves on the board of directors for the \u0410\u0441\u0441\u043e\u0446\u0438\u0430\u0446\u0438\u044f \u0438\u043f\u043e\u0442\u0435\u0447\u043d\u044b\u0445 \u0431\u0430\u043d\u043a\u0438\u0440\u043e\u0432 \u0422\u0435\u0445\u0430\u0441\u0430<\/strong> and helps develop future leaders through the \u0410\u0441\u0441\u043e\u0446\u0438\u0430\u0446\u0438\u044f \u0438\u043f\u043e\u0442\u0435\u0447\u043d\u044b\u0445 \u0431\u0430\u043d\u043a\u0438\u0440\u043e\u0432<\/strong>'s <\/strong>Residential Future Leaders Program.<\/p>\n

In her new role, Soukhamneut will \u201cpartner with leaders across Stockton Mortgage to strengthen collaboration, simplify processes, improve efficiency, and drive innovation that supports the company\u2019s long-term growth,\u201d the company told \u0416\u0438\u043b\u044c\u0435\u041f\u0440\u043e\u0432\u043e\u043b\u043e\u043a\u0430<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

In an interview with HousingWire, Soukhamneut said she found Stockton through a recruiter. She had taken a sabbatical from her last position to think about \u201cwhere the industry was headed,\u201d and the people and companies that were aligned around that.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are in what is arguably the fastest pace of change the industry has faced in maybe the entire time I\u2019ve been in this industry. We\u2019re seeing regulatory changes<\/a>. We\u2019re seeing changes with AI<\/a>. We\u2019re facing the lock-in effect \u2026 and you hear a lot of companies talk about these things. They can say the buzzwords, but they\u2019re not actually doing anything about it,\u201d Soukhamneut said. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd when you look at David [Stockton] and his team, one of the benefits they have is that it\u2019s a sole owner who has a lot of life and energy left, and has invested wisely and saved wisely, and the company\u2019s in a great place to be able to take advantage and make the right investments.\u201d<\/p>\n

Soukhamneut said her first mission in her new role is to look at the company\u2019s \u201cunderlying assumptions\u201d of how and why it operates, explore data-driven decisions and take a \u201cmethodical\u201d approach with vendors<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201c[We\u2019re] really reimagining just what some of the old problems were and what some of the old decisions were, and what, with things that have happened in the industry in the last year or two, allows us to make different decisions today to better serve our customers,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s also taking lessons from her STRATMOR advisory role and bringing them to Stockton.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s an extra seat at every meeting, and that person is your avatar for the customer. It can be an external customer or an internal customer, or sometimes both, depending on the scope of the project. And you want to always have that person have a seat at the table,\u201d Soukhamneut said. \u201cThey\u2019re not necessarily in the room with you, but you want to think about what their perspective is every time. And if you\u2019re constantly going back to that with every small decision that you make, every question that you ask, you end up making good decisions overall.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou see a lot of \u043a\u0440\u0435\u0434\u0438\u0442\u043d\u044b\u0435 \u0441\u043f\u0435\u0446\u0438\u0430\u043b\u0438\u0441\u0442\u044b<\/a> who are good producers, and a lot of them are looking for a place that really listens to them [and] that really thinks about these things.
