\u0420\u0415\u041c\u0410\u041a\u0421<\/strong> \u0438 \u041a\u0435\u043b\u043b\u0435\u0440 \u0423\u0438\u043b\u044c\u044f\u043c\u0441 <\/strong>have received final approval of their homebuyer commission lawsuit settlement agreements in the Batton 1 lawsuit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Judge LaShonda Hunt, who is overseeing both of the Batton lawsuits<\/a>, granted final approval to both settlements this week after a fairness hearing on Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to the orders filed by Judge Hunt, the court found the settlement fair and adequate. She noted that no settlement class members objected or opted out. Class members have until August 25, 2026 to submit claims. The order notes that the approved settlement fund will be\u00a0distributed later under the court-approved plan.<\/p>\n

Due to the final approval of these settlements, the case is dismissed against REMAX and Keller Williams.<\/p>\n

Keller Williams first announced its settlement of the Batton lawsuit in early February 2026, while REMAX announced its settlement in late March 2026. Per the agreements, Keller Williams will pay $20 million<\/a> into the settlement fund, while REMAX will pay $8.5 million.<\/a> At the time the settlements were announced, both companies noted that the settlement terms did not include any new business practice changes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for REMAX said the company was pleased with the news.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the court\u2019s approval, this settlement provides certainty for the REMAX network and resolves the remaining claims from this matter. We look forward to continuing to support the REMAX network as they deliver the best experience in real estate,\u201d the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n

The Batton 1 lawsuit was filed in January 2021 and later amended in July 2022 with Batton as the lead plaintiff. Like the home seller commission lawsuits, this suit alleges that the \u041d\u0430\u0446\u0438\u043e\u043d\u0430\u043b\u044c\u043d\u0430\u044f \u0410\u0441\u0441\u043e\u0446\u0438\u0430\u0446\u0438\u044f \u0420\u0438\u044d\u043b\u0442\u043e\u0440\u043e\u0432<\/strong> (NAR) policies have inflated agent commissions, resulting in higher home prices paid by homebuyers. In addition to REMAX and Keller Williams, other defendants in the Batton 1 suit include NAR and \u0413\u0434\u0435 \u0443\u0433\u043e\u0434\u043d\u043e \u041d\u0435\u0434\u0432\u0438\u0436\u0438\u043c\u043e\u0441\u0442\u044c<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Both NAR and Anywhere<\/a> settled the homebuyer commission lawsuit claims by opting into a settlement negotiated in the Tuccori homebuyer commission lawsuit. While these settlements are up for final approval in early November 2026<\/a>, four retired federal judges<\/a> are challenging the opt-in settlements,<\/a> arguing that if they are approved it will encourage defendants in other class-action lawsuits to \u201cforum shop\u201d when looking to settle. These opt-in settlements received preliminary approval from the court in May 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n
