Scicli, exposed stones in contrada Calamarieri

Scicli, district Calamarieri, set on the navigator, and now let’s enjoy this trip on a beautiful May afternoon.
I landed at three at the airport and after a brief stop at the hotel I rented an old yellow cabrio beetle. A book on the seat, sunglasses, headscarves on the way and off to the south coast of the island.
The landscape is enchanting, slightly lively, it is an alternation of cultivated and uncultivated land. Fifty kilometers separate me from the goal, but I don’t want to waste even a minute of this experience of pure freedom.
I take a look at the clock to check the date, we are still in 2022. Here, among dry stone walls, prickly pears and olive trees, I think I have made a leap into the past, it seems to be in a place in which the time dictated by the clock has given way to life and nature, and is marked by it.
The cell phone invites me to turn right and not without emotion my visit begins.
The dirt driveway is surrounded by dry stone walls behind which some fruit trees are grown. At the moment there are some uncultivated plots of land for about 25,000 meters, there are fruit trees and olive trees and I already imagine it as a large green garden in which to spend my time; the walls widen and I can park in a square. To my right the main building is on two levels, a ground floor directly overlooking the square and a mezzanine floor. There is a main building currently divided into a kitchen, a living room with fireplace and two bedrooms from one of which the mezzanine can be accessed. A series of similar buildings with one or two rooms, of different heights that make the view more lively and pleasant, are attached to the main one; they were old warehouses, stables and ancillary rooms.
On the opposite side we find the garage with bathroom and storage and a rustic.
This farmhouse needs to revive its ancient splendor, keeping its original spirit alive with exposed stones and if it were possible also the roof trellis which is a real spectacle.
Spaces should be reviewed and redesigned, but the potential is already visible even to the inexperienced eye.
Now I get back in the car, the setting sun reminded me that you could not have arrived in Sicily without having yet plunged into the beautiful sea. Today I will go to the quiet tower of the financier and we will meet again when you invite me to the garden for the inauguration of this jewel that you have ensured.
