More than half a million JoyJolt Glass Coffee Mugs have been recalled after purchasers reported the vessels breaking and cracking when filled with hot liquids.
On June 20, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that MM Products has issued a recall of JoyJolt Declan Glass Coffee Mugs after a number of the 16-ounce single-wall glass mugs broke at the base when exposed to hot liquids, causing burns and lacerations. MM Products and JoyJolt are asking customers to stop using the mugs immediately and offering a full refund for all affected mugs. MM Products reports that approximately 580,000 of the JoyJolt Declan Glass Coffee Mugs were sold, and all of them are included in this voluntary recall.

Why are the JoyJolt Glass Coffee Mugs being recalled?
As of June 20, MM Products has received 103 reports of mugs breaking, causing 56 injuries. Among those injured, 35 people experienced burns from spilled hot liquids, and 21 others were cut by broken glass. Seven of the incidents were serious enough to require stitches and surgery, per the CPSC.
“Our 16 oz Declan Single Wall Glass Mugs may not hold up to heat as well as we’d hope, increasing the potential for risk,” a statement on the JoyJolt website says.
How to Know If Your Mugs Are Included in the Recall
The impacted JoyJolt Drinkware Declan Single-Wall Glass Coffee Mugs are clear glass, with a handle. They were sold in sets of six between September 2019 and May 2022 for between $20 and $25. They were sold via Amazon and the JoyJolt website. The model number included in the recall is JG10242.
If you have JoyJolt mugs, you can check the model number to see if your mugs are affected by the recall. Look at the box the mugs came in (if you still have it) or your order confirmation to check the model number. If your purchased items have the model number JG10242, you should stop using them immediately. If you can’t find the model number, you can still contact JoyJolt to figure out if your mugs are included in the recall.
What to Do If You Have JoyJolt Mugs Included in the Recall
If you own JoyJolt mugs, first check the model number (if possible). Next, visit the JoyJolt website and fill out the Declan Single Wall Glass Mug Voluntary Recall Form to start the recall process; if you do still have the box your mugs came in, you can take a picture and email it to JoyJolt to confirm your model number.
To return the recalled mugs, you can use your own packaging or request packaging from JoyJolt. JoyJolt is providing prepaid shipping labels either way. Once they receive your returned mugs, they’ll process your refund (and you’ll get an extra $3 back if you use your own packaging to return the mugs).
“Your safety is our top priority, and we’re taking immediate action by issuing a voluntary recall of this product,” JoyJolt posted on its website.
For more information on the recall, you can contact MM Products and JoyJolt by calling toll-free at 888-569-5680 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, emailing at recall@joyjolt.com, or visiting the JoyJolt recall page.
