Chip and Joanna Gaines are known for their home renovation style, but the Silos at Magnolia offers more than just home goods. Joanna has authored three cookbooks, so it’s no surprise there are incredible eats at Magnolia—and I tried as many as I could fit into my two-day trip to the Silos. I grabbed breakfast at the bakery, an iced seasonal latte at Magnolia Press, and savored a cinnamon roll that was so good, I’m still thinking about it weeks later.

From decadent baked goods to seasonal coffee drinks, these are all the foods I tried at Magnolia—along with my official ranking, so you know exactly what’s worth ordering. Spoiler alert: One item was so good it earned an 11 out of 10!

Orange Cream Cupcake

Ranking: 9/10

Where to find it: The Silos Baking Co.

The Silos Baking Co. is known for their classics, but they also have a rotating seasonal menu filled with interesting flavors. I was torn between the Orange Cream Cupcake and the Strawberry Lemonade Cupcake, but I visited the bakery in the middle of summer, so a creamsicle-inspired treat seemed like a no-brainer. (Plus, my coworker Claire recently tried all the cupcake flavors at Magnolia and raved about this one!) The vanilla buttercream icing really does taste like the inside of a creamsicle—except this treat won’t melt into a puddle in the summer heat. My only complaint about it was the cake-to-frosting ratio. The icing was incredible, but the orange cake was somehow even better. It’s a good, sturdy cake filled with pieces of zippy orange zest that was just tart enough to complement the sweetness of the frosting perfectly.

Classic Cinnamon Roll

Ranking: 11/10

Where to find it: The Silos Baking Co.

This sweet cinnamon pastry topped with cream cheese glaze is hands-down the best cinnamon roll I’ve ever eaten (sorry, mom!). The roll is exactly what you’d expect: Fluffy, cinnamony dough that’s perfectly soft without being soggy—which has to be some sort of bakery magic, because there was plenty of icing on top. The cream cheese glaze is slightly tangy, which brings out the flavors of the dough and cinnamon. It’s definitely big enough to share, but it’s so good you won’t want to! This was my favorite thing I tried at Magnolia, so I give it a 10/10—though I’d give it an 11 if I could!

Peach Matcha Latte

Ranking: 8/10

Where to find it: Magnolia Table and Magnolia Press Coffee Co.

It was 105 degrees the day I visited Magnolia, so by the time I wandered into the Magnolia Press Coffee Co., I was looking for something cold and refreshing. The Peach Matcha Latte is the seasonal special at both the coffee shop and the Magnolia Table restaurant, so I was definitely intrigued. This one was a bit of a wild card pick for me; I like matcha, but I don’t normally order it. If you’re on the fence about trying it, I definitely recommend ordering it. This drink was perfectly summery without being too sweet, and totally hit the spot on a hot day.

Blueberry Muffin Crumble

Ranking: 7/10

Where to find it: The Silos Baking Co.

I love to make the blueberry muffins from Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Table cookbook, so I had to track down an authentic version while I was at Magnolia. These taste pretty similar, although I’d argue they taste even better when you don’t have to make them yourself. The muffin itself is super buttery and fluffy, while the crumble topping tastes like my grandma’s shortbread cookies. The topping is melt-in-your-mouth sweet, which is perfect if you like a sweet breakfast item. I give this one an 8.5/10 for taste, but a 7/10 overall because it’s super messy.

Elderflower and Rose Lemonade

Ranking: 7/10

Where to find it: The Silos Baking Co.

If you’re in search of a tasty drink, I’d definitely recommend Magnolia Press for all things coffee and lattes, but the bakery does have a few drink options as well. The bakery offers two variations of elderflower lemonade (regular and rose), so I had to see what the hype was about. I was already trying plenty of sweet things, so I decided on the rose flavor, thinking it might be more refreshing on a hot day. I did enjoy it, but it was a bit too floral tasting for me. Next time, I’ll probably skip this one.

Pimento Cheese Dip

Ranking: 10/10

Where to find it: The Brasserie at Hotel 1928

So this one isn’t technically from any of the Magnolia properties, but it was so good I had to include it anyway. I had dinner at The Brasserie at Hotel 1928—the gorgeous boutique hotel Chip and Joanna renovated on Fixer Upper: The Hotel—and every bite was incredible. Even though it was an appetizer, this pimento cheese dip was the star of the show. Insanely creamy, savory, and tangy all at once, the cheese dip on the accompanying ultra-crispy crackers was one of the best things I’ve ever ordered at a restaurant. (If you do dine there, order the Orange Creamsicle Ice Box Cake for dessert—so good!)
