If you’ve ever wanted your home to feel like it’s straight out of a fairytale set in the English countryside, turn to wallpaper that’s timeless. Graham & Brown, one of the UK’s oldest interior design and wallpaper brands, always delivers with its Color and Design of the Year—and for 2025, they took inspiration from the charming, historical ceremonial county of Lancashire.

2025 Graham & Brown Design of the Year

The 2025 Design of the Year takes you to the Rivington Terraced Gardens, a stunning public garden in the English countryside. The artful wallpaper, which was stylistically inspired by neoclassical etchings, was made by Graham & Brown designer Victoria Davidson.

“When creating our Design of the Year 2025, we wanted to draw inspiration from things close to home and close to our hearts, time spent walking around a local landmark in Rivington really makes you appreciate the beauty that might often be overlooked, enhanced by the natural surroundings reclaiming the ancient architecture,” said Paula Taylor, head stylist and trend specialist at Graham & Brown, in a press release.

The design features prints of trees and historical architecture to create a grand Victorian work of art. It’s elegant, charming, and perfect for adding a bold accent wall or vintage-inspired detail to any space in your home.

Graham & Brown 2025 Color of the Year: Elderton

Inspired by the timeless nature of neutrals, Graham & Brown created a rich, classic brown that was designed to stay in style. It’s ideal for warming up a room or using as a unique accent color.

Dubbed Elderton, after the Elder (or elderberry) tree native to many parts of Britain, the shade was made to enhance the Design of the Year 2025.

Combining both creates a mix of timelessness and striking detail, and the etching-inspired drawings on the Design of the Year wallpaper gain even more depth when paired with Elderton.

“Aside from our Design of The Year, Elderton is a chameleon colour that can be sophisticated yet cosy depending on the mood of the space it is in,” Taylor said. “It will add drama to contemporary colours by creating a theatrical backdrop, allowing them to shine through. Our homes are spaces where we can be our most honest and creative selves and Elderton is the perfect hue to unleash the potential of any room.”

You can shop both the new shade Elderton and the Design of the Year Rivington Folly on grahambrown.com, and get more ideas on how to incorporate them both into your space.
