With Halloween just weeks away, it’s naturally time to start thinking about your Christmas decor. As soon as you put the skeletons and witches back in the closet for another year, you’re not alone if you start to feel the longing for seasonal baubles, red and green ribbons, and the unmistakable joy that zhuzhing for Christmas brings to both our inner child and the rooms where we dwell.

Leave it to IKEA to bring a fresh new look to timeless favorites for you to pick from to add some surprises to your holiday displays, including a line of items for New Year’s Eve, dropping October 1. The VINTERFINT + STRÅLA collection of Christmas delights cheers “Merry Jul” (Merry Christmas in Swedish) with an assortment of irresistible tree ornaments, gift wrap, table decor and more.

“I grew up by a forest and often saw foxes and hares, so it felt very natural to create forest-themed patterns for the VINTERFINT collection,” designer Cecelia Pettersson said in a statement. “Playful, yet with an amateur color palette where the animals thrive in the winter landscape.”

VINTERFINT Wall Decoration

The folkloric look of the felt or glass animal ornament sets you can hang on your tree ($5 to $15), the berry print on the bold and bright cotton tablecloth ($20), and the mixed red and green hues featured in the patterned gift wrap ($7 per 3-pack) are the most festive additions to cozy spaces. Use the gift wrap to cover artwork in the room to further enhance the holiday feel.

In the tiniest spots, IKEA’s lacquered pine wall hanging ($20) can be used to display your favorite baubles where a tree won’t fit—a child’s room, powder room, or studio apartment. ”VINTERFINT wall decoration is an alternative Christmas tree in pine that’s great when space is limited,” said designer Mikael Axelsson in a statement. “The flexible, accordion-like construction has knobs and can be pulled out to a desired width and filled with ornaments every year.”

For bakers, IKEA has cotton aprons ($5 for kids size, $8 for adults) in the merriest red and white patterns. Stock up on cookie cutters ($5, set of five) for making gingerbread men or sugar cookies to decorate on Christmas Eve, and festive red baking cups ($1, pack of 65) for muffins or cupcakes.

The FRÖJDA New Year’s Eve collection is all about sparkle, light, and shine. Taking inspiration from Swedish winters and bubbly Champagne, it has all your countdown party necessities, from classic coupe glasses ($20 for four) and a magical star pendant lamp ($25) to all-white plates ($1 each) and cloth napkins ($4 for four). And you can’t skip over the disco ball-inspired silver hanging decoration ($5), guaranteed to boost the celebratory feel of your holiday gatherings.

”The disco ball in the FRÖJDA collection comes in a flat-pack and is easy to fold out—and fold up again to save for the next party or birthday. With a room filled with silvery balls, you create that right party atmosphere in a flash!” Lisa Hilland & Mikael Axelsson, designers of the collection, said in a statement.

This is just a glimpse at the enchanting items in the VINTERFINT+STRÅLA and FRÖJDA collections, available at IKEA stores and online starting October 1. Get a head start on your holiday spirit by picking up a few favorites to kickstart the season.
