It looks like the savory cocktail of the summer has landed, and you may be able to find the star ingredient in your garden.

The Tomatini is exactly what it sounds like—a martini made with tomatoes—and it’s officially going mainstream. In March, the acclaimed LPM Restaurant & Bar added the Tomatini to their signature menu at their largest location in Las Vegas, and you can find multiple takes on the boozy tomato beverage scrolling through social media.

“Tomato drinks seem to be the drink of the summer,” says Better Homes & Gardens Test Kitchen Emily Neinhaus. “The tomatoes give the classic martini even more interest. I would probably add some olive juice to it as well for a sweet, acidic, and salty profile.”

TikTok creator @drinksbyevie’s Tomatini recipe has received more than 120,000 views.

“I’m pretty sure that I warned you all that the tomato content was going to be coming in hot and heavy,” she said in the video. “So, I will not be apologizing for sharing probably the most quintessential tomato-tini recipe that you’ll ever come across.”

TOMA-TINI COMING IN HOT BABY 🍅 tomatoes are clearly always on the brain, but this is the most top tier tomato cocktail in my opinion (i’m not just saying that cause it’s in martini form, i swear 😉🤞) TOMA-TINI • 2 cherry tomatoes • 1 bar spoon champagne vinegar (any vinegar will do i just like this one) • 1 bar spoon lemon juice (don’t over do it. the flavor is overpowering) • pinch of salt • ½ oz vermouth by evie (or a dry vermouth) • 2½ oz dry gin or vodka • garnish: cracked black pepper, olive oil, cherry tomato add cherry tomatoes, vinegar, and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker and muddle. add vermouth and gin, along with ice, and shake until chilled. double strain into a stemmed glass and garnish with freshly cracked black pepper, a few drops of olive oil, and a tomato on a cocktail pick. • • • #tomato #tomatini #tomatomartini #martini #cherrytomato #cherrytomatoes #savory #salty #easycocktails #summercocktails

To make the cocktail, @drinksbyevie starts by muddling two cherry tomatoes, 1 bar spoonful of champagne vinegar, and 1 bar spoonful of lemon juice in a cocktail shaker. She then adds 1/2 an ounce of vermouth, 2 1/2 ounces of gin, and ice, shaking it until it’s chilled. For the final step, she double strains it all into a glass, garnishing with freshly-cracked black pepper, a few drops of olive oil, and a tomato on a cocktail pick. If gin isn’t your alcohol of choice, she recommends using vodka instead.

“This recipe really doesn’t require anything fancy. These are things that you should probably have around the house, especially if you like to cook and make drinks on the regular,” she said. “This is 100% my martini for the summer, though, because it’s just so fresh, and it literally tastes like a boozy salad dressing.”

The drink doesn’t just look delicious in the video—the commenters who have tried it themselves are equally as obsessed.

“Yessss finally a savory cocktail recipe I don’t have to make a dedicated syrup or infusion for,” one commenter wrote.

“Made it and it’s delish. Vibes of a Caesar, super pretty and surprising,” another said.

Whether you follow the TikTok recipe or not, this drink is sure to fill up menus in restaurants (and home bars) everywhere this summer.
