Newly built, $25M East Hampton house comes fully (and beautifully) furnished — antiques included

A recently completed 11,644-square-foot home is up for grabs in East Hampton South — and it’s a masterclass in refined interior design.

With a timeless exterior that makes it fit right in with its decades-old neighbors, the 2024-built home has been designed by James Michael Howard, a celebrated Florida-based designer who’s no stranger to the Hamptons. In fact, his past projects in the area earned him two Hamptons Cottage & Gardens Awards, one in 2012 and another in 2014.

However, this might be a project closer to Howard’s heart, as he is also the owner and seller of the magnificent estate, alongside his designer wife, Phoebe. The two have just brought the home to market after completing it in 2024 and renting it for the summer for a hefty $1.4 million.

The property is listed for $24,950,000 with Douglas Elliman’s Martha Gundersen and Paul Brennan.

By far the most impressive room of the house, the stately great room is flooded with light thanks to the generously sized windows. The portrait of a girl by Fabiola Jean Louis, real Louise Nevelson artwork, and custom-made wallpaper add artistic flair.

Built-in wall speakers, an 18th-century Italian burlwood circular side table, and a center table made of rare palm wood complete the luxurious setting.

The room also features stump tables from Guinevere (imported from London), seating similar to Frits Heningson’s iconic armchairs, Mallett antiques, a custom-made sofa by James Michael Howard himself, and a fireplace with end irons by Diego Giacometti, among other notable furnishings.

The room also includes vintage sconces around the TV, faux ivory cabinets, custom vanities in stainless and antique brass with Tesserae flooring in the bathroom, and a vintage bench in Dutch metal.

The silver and glass table in the style of Jacques Quinet, corner ceiling mirrors in the style of John Soane, domed ceiling, and 20th-century Italian white chairs by the fireplace (circa 1950) make this suite truly unique. The curtains feature an embroidered design inspired by a custom Coco Chanel dress.
