simpliHŌM founder Miku talks commission splits, goal to go public

On this week’s RealTrending, Tracey Velt interviews Sean Miku — founder and CEO of simpliHŌM — a tech-focused brokerage launched in 2018.

Miku outlines the firm’s 85/15 commission split, free transaction management and its goal to go public by 2028, while sharing perspectives on today’s real estate challenges and opportunities.

He also explains how simpliHŌM’s growth is fueled by agent-focused support, streamlined tech processes and a strong cultural fit.

With targeted expansion plans and ambitions for international reach, the company is positioning itself for bold moves in the years ahead.

The following conversation excerpt has been edited for length and clarity.

Velt: Let’s talk about your core business model, your compensation model and a little bit about who you are as a company.

Miku: Our core model is one where I believe we’re just trying to carve out a niche in the middle of the past and the future. What I mean by that is when you really do the math and you break it down, only 7% to 8% of Realtors are at cloud-based brokerages, but they crave connection.

They may go home and sit on the couch and complain about all the people they had to deal with and how terrible traffic is, or this client or that client or whatever. But in the grand scheme of things, people are more connected and disconnected than they’ve ever been as a society. The internet is a blessing and a curse. Social media is the same. And so with that, I think people crave that human connectivity. I think there’s power in what I’m about to do in a few days — fly over to the West Coast and be with our people face-to-face for two weeks straight in all of these different markets.

He said simpliHŌM combines the flexibility of a cloud model with tangible, in-person support and community presence.

Miku: We’re giving people the benefits of the cloud. We’re giving them free healthcare. We’re giving them free transaction management. We have free automated marketing kits that they can print or use for their social media and the property websites. We have free automated testimonials. All of these components are very future focused when it comes to the real estate landscape as a whole from a brokerage perspective. But we’re also combining it with that brick-and-mortar presence. We’re integrating into the communities that we serve.
