Sage-green shade Quietude ends the debate over whether green can be a neutral—and proves green might be the most dynamic hue on the color wheel.

August might feel a bit too early to be thinking about 2025. But in the world of home design and art trends, it’s never too early to start thinking ahead: Many major paint, design, and color brands begin announcing their predictions for the next year’s trends and color of the year around this time, and this year, HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams is one of the first to announce its 2025 Color of the Year: Quietude.
Quietude is a mossy green paint color with soft blue undertones that could work equally well as an eye-grabbing accent color or a neutral, depending on its application. (Greens are neutrals, too!)

While it is the HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams Color of the Year 2025, Quietude is just one shade of ten selected to be part of the line’s 2025 Color Collection of the Year, Naturally Refined. The colors chosen to be part of Naturally Refined are meant to work together to create a, well, naturally refined space. Along with Quietude, the other colors in the collection include Convivial Yellow, Sequin, Nomadic Desert, Nutshell, Spiced Cider, Snowbound, Stucco, Delft, and Rocky River.
“The ‘Naturally Refined’ Color Collection embraces the desire for simplicity and slower living,” Ashley Banbury, the color marketing manager at HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams, said in a press release. “Thoughtfully curated with longevity in mind, each shade emanates elements of timeless design and quiet luxury to help support a living space that feels meaningful. Within the collection, the softened sage green Quietude stands out as the 2025 Color of the Year and sets the stage for a quiet space to promote relaxation.”

As the name implies, Quietude conveys a sense of peace: It’s a fool-proof paint color for spaces intended to soothe and nurture, like a wellness room, a meditation space, or even a nursery. And for those leaning into organic color palettes, Quietude is a great option for a little energy among shades of beige and white. If you consider Color of the Year predictions to be indicators of the overall design mood of the coming year, Quietude might point to a continuation of the trend of people treating their homes as sanctuaries—there’s certainly something secure and comforting about the shade.
Compared to the 2024 Color of the Year from HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams (which was a peachy shade called Persimmon), Quietude is softer and more subtle. Persimmon was a burst of energy; Quietude is a soft wave of contentedness, though it’s still imbued with a certain brightness that keeps it from ever feeling boring.
HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams x Palazzo Partnership
HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams announced its 2025 Color of the Year and Color Collection of the Year alongside a new partnership with a platform from another Williams we’re all too familiar with: tennis champion and entrepreneur Venus Williams. Her AI-powered home visualization tool Palazzo will help launch the HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams 2025 Color Collection of the Year.
Palazzo, which was also founded by Raffi Holzer and Edward Lando, allows users to upload photos of their spaces and add in customized designs and colors. That way, you don’t have to buy the paint and do the work before you realize you actually want a different shade.
“We are thrilled to partner with HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams to bring their Color Collections directly into the homes of our users,” Holzer said in a press release. “This collaboration seamlessly integrates our advanced AI capabilities with HGTV Home by Sherwin-William’s trend-setting aesthetics. By leveraging our platform’s unique features, such as the ability to upload photos of actual spaces for personalization, we’re not just showing potential—we’re transforming how people experience and interact with color in real-time, ensuring they can visualize and achieve their desired space with confidence and ease.”
