Zillow-owned CRM platform Follow Up Boss has notified API partners that beginning on May 7 call recordings and the contents of text messages will no longer be available via API.
Follow Up Boss notified partners of this move on Thursday via an email obtained by HousingWire.
According to the email, Ylopo, MaverickRE and Shilo.ai will not be impacted by the change. “We’re currently working with them to explore options for adding data projections that align with our standards,” the email states.
Follow up Boss told partners in the email that the API update “aligns call recording and text message content with other data access protections already in place, such as email content (which has never been available via API), in order to protect sensitive data.” The CRM noted that partners will still be able to listen to and download individual call recordings and view text messages through the Follow Up Boss desktop and mobile app.
“All of the high-level information, also known as metadata, about when a text or call took place, how long the call lasted and who participated is still available via the API,” the email states.
The email concluded with Follow Up Boss reassuring partners that it is “committed to being an open platform.”
Zillow, which purchased Follow Up Boss in December 2023, has not yet returned a request for comment. It is unclear how many API partners will be impacted by this move, but sources, who wished to remain anonymous, told HousingWire that it included several smaller startups, as well as larger firms like HouseWhisper, an AI assistant. A Zillow spokesperson noted that the change will only impact a “small subset of the hundreds of integration partners” they currently have.
