Aries (March 21 – April 19): Scarecrow

Aries, the first sign in the zodiac, have a characteristically big, bold, and fiery personality. They are self-assured, value independence, and are natural leaders, confidently and assertively leading the way. “One could say they operate with a lone wolf mentality,” Grim says, which makes a solitary—yet intimidating—scarecrow the perfect pumpkin stencil for an Aries.
Scarecrows often stand alone in a pumpkin patch, yet they’re intimidating enough to ward off any creatures that might eat the crops. “Whether they’re carving alone or with a group, [this stencil] perfectly encapsulates Aries’ daring, independent, and headstrong nature.”
Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Leaves or Trees

“Tauruses have a sacred relationship with Mother Nature, which can be exemplified with a monstera pumpkin stencil,” Grim says. “The monstera stencil conveys a pleasant, grounded energy which can keep Tauruses connected to the earth.” The expert pumpkin carving Tauruses amongst you can also explore their inner Scorpio with a spooky tree carving. Engaging the opposite sign will provide balance and depth through their complementary qualities.
Gemini (May 21 – June 20): Silly Jack-o’-Lantern Faces

Geminis, leave the creepy, devilish faces behind and channel your creativity and mischievous charm instead. “Geminis often love to improvise and humor themselves or others around them,” Grim says. “This makes [these stencils] perfect for their playful style.” Carving silly jack-o’-lantern faces will encourage Geminis to embrace their curiosity and love of entertaining others.
Cancer (June 21 – July 22): Cottagecore Pumpkin

Cancers are characteristically compassionate, nurturing, and sensitive. They are natural caregivers and are domestically oriented. “Cancers appreciate the comfortability and safety a home or foundation provides; therefore, the cottage pumpkin stencil will appeal to their desire to nestle inside,” Grim says. Cancer is ruled by the moon, so Grim suggests pairing this cottagecore-inspired look with a sweet cat-shape carving stencil for the perfect Cancer-inspired pumpkin duo.
Leo (July 23 – August 22): Colorful No-Carve Pumpkins

As a fire sign represented by a lion, a lion pumpkin stencil would a no-brainer for the Leos. However, a clever no-carve pumpkin stencil also caught Grim’s eye for this spirited sign. This stencil doesn’t require any actual carving; instead, use glue and multicolor beads to create a colorful witchy display. “Leos love to stand out and express themselves, which makes this stencil perfect for them,” he says. “The head-turning carving would serve Leo’s desire to shine and help them hold a larger-than-life presence throughout Halloween.”
Virgo (August 23 – September 22): Wise Owls

“Virgos, known for being highly perceptive, would be wise to select an owl stencil, which can emphasize their intelligence and constant awareness of their surroundings,” Grim says. “Or, for the Virgos who enjoy concocting their own herbal remedies and want to stick to the eerieness of Halloween, a wicked witch carving is another great option.”
Libra (September 22 – October 23): Fall Quotes

Social, diplomatic, and charming, Libras seek to create harmony and equilibrium in all areas of life. “Libras seek to gain the trust of others, so I think a more inviting stencil would resonate with them,” says Grim. “A fall quote stencil would be very inviting for any guests, and maintains a sense of lightness during an otherwise broody holiday.”
Scorpio (October 23 – November 21): Zombies and Monsters

Known for their secretive demeanor and constant air of mystery, Scorpios are in their element during Halloween. It is their time of year, so there’s no excuse to hold back on the spooky elements. “This zombie stencil with the hand reaching up alludes to Scorpio’s association with the subterranean and the subconscious, while a scarecrow stencil would help scare passersby, in line with Scorpio’s associations with facing fears,” Grim says. The creepier, the better!
Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21): Friendly Faces

“Sagittariuses are gregarious and jovial, so they are the perfect sign to bring fun to Halloween,” Grim says. With that in mind, he points Sagittarius to more lively smiling or laughing face stencils. “Sagittarius is also associated with flight, so perhaps the bat would also suit them,” he says.
Capricorn (December 22 – January 20): Skulls and Skeletons

“Capricorn is tied to the winter solstice, the time of year when the night is longest and we are symbolically worn down to the bones before we begin to chase increasing light again,” Grim says. Capricorn also rules the bones, joints, and teeth, so they are naturally attuned to skull or skeleton stencils during spooky season.
Aquarius (January 21 – February 18): Honeycomb Stencils

“Aquarius, the air sign associated with groups, communities, and the hive mind, would love the Honeycomb stencils,” Grim says. “Bees recall the theme of networks and interconnected groups, which Aquariuses thrive in.” Aquariuses are clever, innovative, and unconventional, so an uncharacteristically Halloween stencil, like this clever bee and honeycomb combo, is just the ticket.
Pisces (February 19 – March 20): Big Baby Blues and Rainbow

“Pisces, the 12th and final sign of the zodiac, symbolically encompasses energy from all the preceding signs, making the rainbow stencil a fantastic choice,” Grim says. “The rainbow is also visually appealing and fantastical, which alludes to Pisces’ associations with vivid dreams.”
