The question must be asked: ”Are you ready kids?”
And not just little kids! Anyone who grew up with SpongeBob SquarePants should prepare to head to the Krusty Krab—ahem, Wendy’s—to try the new Krabby Patty Kollab, a limited-time combo featuring a Krabby Patty Burger and a Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty (and fries, of course). The special offer celebrates the anniversary of the animated series that’s captivated generations for 25 years.

What Is the Krabby Patty Kollab?
Here’s what you can expect when you order the Krabby Patty Kollab:
The Krabby Patty Kollab burger is made with Wendy’s fresh-never-frozen quarter-pound square beef patty, topped with two slices of melted American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, and a top-secret sauce created just for the Krabby Kollab, all on a toasted premium bun.
The Under-the-Sea Frosty incorporates pineapple-mango puree into the classic Vanilla Frosty for a first-of-its-kind tropical flavor even Squidward would want to try.

Working with Nickelodeon and Paramount, Wendy’s is introducing this special meal for a short time, beginning October 8 and ending November 11.
“‘The Krabby Patty Kollab’ marks another innovative way to continue the landmark 25th-anniversary celebration of SpongeBob SquarePants, bringing Bikini Bottom to the surface like never before,” said Dario Spina, Paramount Brand Studio CMO, in a statement. “Wendy’s pulse on pop culture and connection to fans makes this collaboration a perfect match for Paramount, and we’re looking forward to delivering memorable and immersive experiences through custom creative, engaging social content and recognizable influence.”
Word of the Kollab first leaked in August when it was posted on Reddit, sending fans into a frenzy of speculation about the underwater star’s first land-based meal.
“Wouldn’t it be great if they sold the kelp shake, too?” one user proposed. “Welp, looks like I know where I’ll be in October,” another wrote. A post on Instagram by @mnmtwinz announcing the news in late August got over 800,000 likes—so it looks SpongeBob stans everywhere will be trying to snag a Krabby Patty Kollab (along with Plankton, probably).

What Does the Wendy’s Krabby Patty Taste Like?
TikTok is unsurprisingly already having fun with the Kollab—from a cinema-worthy production of a Wendy’s employee’s POV to drive-thru impressions to of course, plenty of taste tests.
“Been waiting a long time for this—delivers on all fronts,” creator @joe.eats.world said in a video reviewing the meal. “SpongeBob has outdone himself.” He called the Frosty “sweet and delicious” with a “perfect texture.”

Comments on his post weren’t so complimentary: “the burger doesn’t feel unique enough to be considered a krabby patty…” one user critiqued. “no sesame seeds=not a krabby patty.” another wrote.
Another popular foodie account @karissaeats pointed out in her review that Wendy’s missed the opportunity to have some fun with SpongeBob-themed packaging. The Kollab comes in just a regular bag, no pineapples or Planktons to be found.

While she agreed with the points many made about the overall lack of originality and references, @karissaeats gave the overall meal an 8 out of 10 and described the burger as “kind of fire.”
“The Patty was so juicy for a fast food burger—the pickles were tangy, the onions were crunchy, and the lettuce was really fresh,” she said. “The sauce basically just tastes like Thousand Island, but it is good. It’s a little tangy and a little sweet.”
Our associate editor Bryce Jones conducted her own taste test, and she came to very similar conclusions: The Frosty but it has the perfect hint of tropical sweetness without being overwhelming, and while nothing about the burger screams SpongeBob, it’s still delicious.
“The flavors all balance each other out,” she says. “The bun is my favorite part; it’s buttery and holds everything together. The sauce adds a nice creamy element.”
We just have one more question: “…Where’s our Diet Dr. Kelp?”
