Everyone is still thirsty for the Stanley tumbler.

This isn’t anything new. The intense and widespread obsession took off a few years ago, and it hasn’t really let up in the years since. (Who could forget the Stanley x Starbucks collab that caused actual stampedes upon its release?) The brand has partnered with Target, Pendleton, and Joanna Gaines to put out craze-worthy creations, and we’ve seen more than one dupe of the famous cup on shelves at stores like including at Aldi. What is news: Fans are now wearing their favorite tumbler.

The countdown to Halloween has begun, and from DIY versions to ready-made outfits available online, the Stanley cup’s popularity is being reflected in a whole new form. Beyond being a functional product, it’s officially cemented itself as a cultural icon.

“Don’t forget your reusable big cup and get ready to quench everyone’s thirst for fun this Halloween,” the description for Target’s $35 kids costume reads. “Dress up as everyone’s favorite drink accessory with our exclusive Tumbley Pop-Up costume, available now only at Target!”

According to Target, the blue vinyl cup bodysuit comes with an attached handle and straw, arm holes for easy access, and is “one size fits most.”

In the reviews, one customer wrote they used a pool noodle and some tissue to form a straw because it gets a bit folded up in the mail, but they “love love love this silly little thing.” Another said it arrived quickly and has “potential to be great.” Just keep in mind that it can get quite wrinkled in the packaging, so remove it ASAP to give it enough time to smooth out.

If you really want to make it your own, you can find tutorials on social media for handmade Stanley cup costumes using cardboard, paint, and a DIY attitude. Last year, TikToker and middle school teacher @hiphophoorayforela created a custom sweatshirt and straw for a more cute and casual take that racked up over 85,000 likes.

There’s something fun and exciting about dressing up as an everyday item you always have on you—you get to be the accessory for the day. The Stanley cup costume represents everything from dedication to practically and internet-driven trends to a more critical consideration of how consumerism affects the every aspect of our lives. But most products that have any viral staying power do tend to become memes and fashion statement—just look at avocado toast and fidget spinners. Maybe next year we’ll see Halloween costume-goers dress as Trader Joe’s mini totes.
